The journey typically starts between 9 and 10 a.m., embarking on a drive with a driver/guide near Piazza Bastreri, marking the beginning of our complete tour of Cinque Terre. The destination is Monterosso, approximately 70 minutes away, the furthest of the Cinque Terre. Though the trip is long, it is an integral part of the complete tour of Cinque Terre, enriched with folk tales and legends that shape the identity of this area, passed down from grandparents and still remembered today. Stories like "The Bells of Volastra," "The Foundation of Riomaggiore," "The Theft of the Moon from Riomaggiore," and "The Trickster Rock of Manarola" add to the journey's charm.
Upon arrival, we park at Fegina and can either take a short five-minute walk along the seafront to reach the historic center of Monterosso or opt for a longer route via Agavi Street, leading to the elevated Church of San Francesco. Once in the historic center, the beauty of Cinque Terre becomes apparent, getting lost in its characteristic alleys. This exploration is a pivotal part of the complete tour of Cinque Terre. Before leaving, essential sights include the Statue of the Giant near the beach by the railway station, the Aurora Tower with a World War II bunker at its base, and various churches scattered throughout the town.
A quick bite at one of Monterosso's finest wine bars is followed by a departure towards Vernazza and its stunning colored houses. Upon arriving in this relatively small town, we head to the quaint harbor where some locals are already enjoying a refreshing swim. Notable sights in Vernazza include a cave carved into the rock leading to a small pebble beach, the Belforte Bastion, the port, and the promenade.
After a brief stroll along the main street and some shopping in the characteristic local stores, we depart for our final stop, Riomaggiore. In Riomaggiore, we take the long tunnel from the station towards the historic center and reach the “beach.” From here, a long road runs along the sea, leading to the most beautiful viewpoint, especially as sunset approaches. Everyone readies their cameras to capture the spectacle of the sun setting over the sea or to take advantage of the Golden Hour for some particularly Instagram-worthy photos!
We conclude the day with an aperitif to replenish fluids lost during the long day, and then return to our accommodation just in time to freshen up and head out for dinner.
Tour will be conducted by car.
